Finally the day arrived! Ready for work? Here is the step by step to the beach bag, patterns have already been sent to your emails, so there is no excuse. Hands to work!

NOTA: Dale play a la presentación, pero luego ponle pausa porque se va muy rápido, así tu puedes irle dando en la flechita de adelante y ver una por una durante el tiempo que necesites. Puedes leer las instrucciones, pero si te estorban solo tines que darle click en la nube de texto verde que está junto al muñequito amarillo y las instrucciones aparecen y desaparecen.

NOTE: Play the presentation, but then pause it because it goes very fast, so you can click the arrow in front and watch the pictures one by one during the time you need. You can read the instructions, but if they get in the way only click on the green icon next to the yellow doll and instructions will appear and disappear.

Un detalle que olvidé explicar en las diapositivas, fué que al final pasé un pespunte en todo el contorno superior de la bolsa, para que no se asome el forro. Les recomiedo que usen una aguja gruesa y un hilo fuerte, porque tienden a romperse sobre todo dónde se juntan muchas costuras.

One detail I forgot to explain in the slides, is that I stitched around the upper contour of the bag, so the lining doesn´t shows up. I recommend to use a thick needle and heavy thread, because they tend to break where they meet a lot of seams together.

Hice mi mejor esfuerzo por explicar claramente sobre todo cómo relizar el bolsillo de ojal, pero si eres novata en el mundo de la costura y de plano lo ves muy complicado, te sugiero que le hagas bolsillo de parche a ambos lados.

I did my best to explain clearly specialy how to make the slit pocket, but if you're new on sewing and you find it too complicated, I suggest you to do a patch pocket on both sides.



Como verás yo realicé un acolchado libre a máquina, solo acolché a mano el contorno de la Sue y la sombrilla y me pareció muy importante enlazar a este video para aquellas personas que tienen dudas en cómo se realiza este tipo de acolchado. Está en inglés, pero aún así se entiende bastante bien creo yo.

As you can see, I free motion quilted by machine , I only quilted by hand the edges of the umbrella and the Sue and I found very important to link to this video for those who have doubts on how to perform this type of work.

Espero que todo esté muy claro y que disfruten mucho haciendo esta bolsa. No puse un límite de tiempo, pero espero que la hagan muy pronto porque ya tengo muchas ganas de ver sus resultados. Y ya saben, tan pronto como la terminen me meandan una foto ¿De acuerdo?

Pañalero de Smock/ Smocked romper

Desde hace tiempo bordé este osito pirata de smock, y lo guardé en una caja durante muucho tiempo, hasta que recientemente una amiga me dijo que va a ser abuela y me invitó al baby shower. No pude asisitir, pero me apresuré a terminar este pañalero para darle la bienvenida al bebé.

A long time ago I smocked this pirate teddy, and stored it in a box for ages, but recently a friend told me that she is going to be grandma and invited me to the baby shower. I could not attend, but I rushed to finish this romper to express my welcome to the baby.

Me gusta mucho hacer smock, pero mi plisadora está un poco desajustada y me da muchos problemas (>.<) asi que la verdad es que hago poco, pero si a ustedes les gusta esta técnica, les dejo estos vínculos muy interesantes. Aquí hay tutoriales muuy buenos y una tienda online con muchas cosas buenísimas, dónde he comprado la mayor parte de mi material de smock. O si lo prefieren puden visitar esta otra página que tiene una mayor variedad de mercancía. Y ya si les sobran US$1500.00 pueden comprarse este software para hacer sus propios diseños. Yo por lo pronto se lo tengo anotado a los reyes magos desde hace cómo 8 años (¬_¬) .

I love to smock, but my little pleater is broken and gives me many problems (>.<) So the truth is that I do little but if you like this technique, I leave these very interesting links. When I saw the march of the penguins, it almost made me cry, I could not believe that their life is so hard. ¡Hola! Pues ya empecé a trabajar lo del SAL para tenerlo todo listo a tiempo, y he tenido varios encargos, así que no he podido hacer todo lo que me gustaría, cada día la lista de pendientes aumenta y en cambio tacho muy poco.

Hello! Well I started working with the SAL, so I can have everything ready on time, and I have had several orders, so I haven´t been able to do all what I want, every day the "to do" list gets bigger and I cross out only a few things.

La entrada de hoy es siguiendo un poco con el tema de mi entrada del 13. Otro artista que admiro muchísimo, fué el arquitecto Antoni Gaudí, sencillamente me fascina, algunas fuentes lo consideran también como un artista Nouveau, otras fuentes difieren, pero al final de cuentas no importa cómo lo cataloguen, simplemente era un genio.

Today's post is a bit along with the theme of my 13th post . Another artist I admire greatly, was the architect Antoni Gaudí, just fascinates me, some sources consider him as a Nouveau artist, other sources differ, but after all no matter how we catalog his work, he was simply a genius.

Estoy muy triste/ I´m super sad

Nunca les hablé de este lugar especial, yo vivo a las orillas de una ciudad pequeña, y muy cerca solían estar las vías del tren. Hace años los trenes dejaron de pasar y alguien con visión decidió usar las antiguas vías para hacer una ciclopista. Era un lugar encantador, siempre había niños jugando con sus bicicletas, abuelitas caminando y también gente corriendo muy en serio, la verdad es que no somos muy deportistas y nosotras solo salíamos a caminar, a ver el atardecer, a escuchar los pájaritos y sentir el viento.

I never talk to you about this special place, I live on the banks of a small town, near some old train tracks. Years ago the trains stopped passing by and someone with vision decided to use the old tracks to make a bicycle path. It was a lovely place, children were playing with their bicycles, and grandmothers walking, also people running very seriously, the truth is that we are not very sporty and we only went out for a walk, watching the sunset, listening to the birds and feeling the wind.

Cuando mi ánimo andaba decaído, solo hacía falta salir a ver la puesta de sol, y de inmediato, como si hubiera tomado un potente antidepresivo me empezaba a sentir mejor, más de una vez, el viento que pasó a través de éste árbol ayudó a secar mis lágrimas.

When I was in a blue mood, just needed to go to see the sunset, and immediately, it was like I had taken a powerful antidepressant, I started to feel better, more than once, the wind that went through this tree helped to dry my tears.

Hoy nuevamente salimos al atardecer y no podíamos creer a nuestros ojos, habían talado todos los árboles, resulta que desde principios de este mes, autorizaron construir una avenida de cuatro carriles y yo no tenía la más mínima idea.

Today we went again at sunset and we could not believe our eyes, all the trees were felled, this because early this month someone authorized the construction of a four-lane avenue and I did not have idea.

Se que tal vez es algo hipócrita de mi parte, que no tengo derecho a quejarme porque derribaran mi árbol favorito cuando probablemente he contribuido a tirar otros con cáda hoja de papel que uso, pero no puedo evitar sentirme como si me hubieran arrancado a un amigo.

It is perhaps hypocritical on my part, I have no right to complain about they cutting my favorite tree when I have probably helped to cut off others with every sheet of paper I use, but I can not help feeling as if I had lost a friend .

Desde que descubrí el Art Nouveau se convirtió en mi corriente artística favorita, todas esas curvas y representaciones de la naturaleza, es como si todo hubiera sido sacado del reino de las Hadas, y claro, no se puede pensar en Art Nouveau, sin pensar en Alphonse Mucha, aquí les dejo el vínculo a una galería virtual de su trabajo, y la imagen de una de sus litografías que me encanta "Dance" ¿No les parece fantástico el movimiento que tiene? Tutorial de Rococó (Bullions) 2a. parte

¡Hola! Pues aquí está finalmente el tutorial de rococó, espero que esté claro pero si no me mandan un mail con sus dudas y trataré de resolverlas.

Here it is! My first video tutorial in this blog, I made it in spanish, but I hope the images will be enough for you to follow it, but if you have any question send me an e-amail and I´ll try to help.

Para el ejemplo de el tutorial, hice un girasol, lo hice con hilo perlé del número 8 y con aguja xxx#3. Este es solo un ejemplo, pero se pueden hacer infinidad de flores, e incluso otras figuras como animalitos, pueden hacerse trabajos tan finos como una sola hebra de hilo mouliné o por el contrario se puede hacer con lana bien gruesa y sobre tejidos de punto se ve espectacular.

For this example I made a sunflower, I used perlé cotton thread #8 but you can make a lot of flowers and other figures as animals, you can make them as little as a single strand of mouline thread or on the contrary can be made with very thick wool , it makes knitted garments look spectacular.

¡Hola! Antes que nada muchas gracias a las que se han apuntado al SAL y me han ayudado a difundirlo, son todas muy lindas. Hoy me disponía a trabajar en ese tutorial de rococó, y mi cámara se quedó sin batería, me esperan unos días muy atareados y no sé cuando podré subirlo, pero mientras tanto quiero invitarlas a visitar la página de esta maravillosa artista, su nombre es Ruth Sanderson, y al recorrer sus galerías podrán ver por qué es de mis favoritas.

Cuando hay días que nos sentimos bloqueados, siempre ayuda entrar en contacto con el trabajo de gente talentosa, rodearnos de imagenes, sonidos, palabras, aromas, sabores y texturas agradables ayudan a fluir nuestra propia creatividad ¿no lo creen asi?

Espero que disfruten de estos artistas tanto como yo y que las ayuden como a mi a encontrar inspiración.

Tutorial de Rococó 1a. Parte

¡Hola! Estoy preparando un tutorial de rococó, espero tenerlo listo muy pronto, pero antes de comenzar debemos tener todo el material necesario. Lo principal para hacer un bonito rococó es tener la aguja correcta, les preparé esta imagen para que puedan ver la diferencia entre unas agujas y otras.

La aguja de la izquierda tiene una superficie pareja, en algunos lados he escuchado que la llaman de paja o de sombrerería, acá en México trabajamos con las agujas xxx (o_O) o de sastre (no es que sean solo para adultos, sino que tienen 3"x" chiquitas grabadas en las agujas jajaja) Si están trabajando rococó pequeño las agujas de quilting también dan buenos resultados.

La aguja de la derecha es digamos la más común, como las agujas de modista, o la de tapicería que normalmente usamos para hacer punto de cruz y no son recomendables para este tipo de trabajo porque a la altura del ojo, engrosan su forma y esto no deja deslizar los rizos del rococó libremente. Asi que l@s dejo dedicadas a la tarea de buscar una buena aguja para hacer rococó y mientras tanto sigo trabajando en el tutorial.

¿Se imaginan que todavía tuvieramos que usar corsé? ¿Y que tal vestidos hasta los tobillos? Este es el mundo que encontró Chanel cuando llegó a él, pero lo había cambiado totalmente cuando lo dejó.
Soy super fan de Audrey Tautou, y aunque el estilo Chanel no es lo mío, reconozco que fué un hito para la moda, así que como se imaginaran estoy encantada de que se conjuntaran estos talentos en esta pelicula que muero de ganas de ver. Aquí les pongo el trailer y seguramente se contagiarán.

SAL Sunbonnet Sue en Cancún

¡Hola a todas, hoy empieza un nuevo més y con él se acercan los cálidos días del verano, y debemos prepararnos para estar listas a tiempo.

Hace poco más de un año diseñé este bloque como parte de una colección de 12 con los que hice una colcha, pero voy a necesitar una bolsa de playa, así que pienso coserme una y las invito a coserla conmigo.

Voy a comenzar en el mes de julio, así que tienen todo este mes para pensarlo y si se deciden me dejan un comentario en esta entrada, o me mandan un correo a laurallort@gmail.com con su nombre y el correo electrónico al cual quieren que les envíe los patrones.
